Branding is a term that is often used without people realizing what it really means. Branding, in its true essence, is creating a unique image, a personality so captivating, so real and so distinct people will be forced to pay attention! Branding is possible for all types of businesses regardless of size, scale or industry type. The branding strategies you implement will have a long lasting effect on the personality your business will assume.

Just as people connect with people brands have the ability to connect and forge beautiful and lasting relationships with existing and potential customers. Think of movies and some of the best- loved characters that defy time and generations …you can create similar emotions. Creating a personality for your business will help you in successfully obtaining new leads, enjoying customer loyalty which will all lead to increases in your revenue.

The following information will walk you through the initial steps to creating your unique business personality through branding strategies.

Create a Unique Selling Point

The first step towards branding is to create a unique selling point (USP) for your business. Generally speaking, businesses implement USP to gain a competitive edge to boost sales, however, your focus is on branding so you should create a USP. The Unique selling point (USP) could be your emphasis on the customer service you provide, the expertise your employees have versus your competitors or it could be something your product has that no other in your category possesses.

You can, if possible, be the first to utilize discounts, coupons, or other promotions to get new customers and then it becomes up to you to keep them.

Have Some Fun with Your Promotional Campaigns

It’s a great idea to add creativity, fun and color into your branding strategies. For instance, if you are planning a promotional campaign for your new and improved facial wash that is mild on the skin, you should consider adding in characters to make it more fun.

Characters like a dude, Jay, who doesn’t want to use a facial wash ever, a guy, David, who uses a fairly average facial wash (your competitor), and another guy, Mason, who’s happy using soap (the loser). Now when David uses the other facial wash, he automatically becomes so fair-skinned that his teeth appear yellow. You get what we mean, don’t you? The point here is that the more people associate your products, services, and business with the image of fun, humor, friendship, and similar traits, the better it is for your branding personality.

Create an Engaging Personality

An engaging personality can be the crowning jewel of your branding strategies when done right. For instance, if you have social media accounts, post regularly on them and engage with your fans, followers, and customers in a familiar, approachable way. Do some homework on how your business is currently perceived and how you want it to be perceived.

Implement a personality in everything you post on your website, social media accounts, and newsletters, so it is easy for people to associate with your business. Branding, in the long run, can help you establish a sustained customer base with the prospect of acquiring new customers for years to come!
